Summer Sale at Thread Social

Starting tomorrow, super-spendy (but incredibly adorable) line Thread Social launches a summer sample sale -- and the best part? This is one of the few sample sales that you don't have to be in NYC to attend! Go online to check out the goods, then email shopsummersale@threaddesign.com or phone in (212.414.8844 x24) your order. I've lusted after the Storm Print cap-sleeve dress for months (now $295, was $585), but the resort collection's one-shouldered seersucker number (now $200, was $425) is pretty dang cute. Perfect for a sticky D.C. summer, no? Set your alarm extra early tomorrow, ladies!

Thrifty Business: Tuxedo Jackets

On Sunday, I trekked out to Unique Bazaar in Falls Church to scope out what was left at the end of the weekend, and scored a totally awesome Oscar de la Renta boy's tuxedo jacket - strikingly similar to Ms. Moss's shown above. It's double-breasted with a satin shawl collar and the sleeves are elbow-length on me, which is perfect. And it rang up to a whopping $10.49. I plan to bust it out for weekend cocktails with a loose white tank, skinny jeans and studded black suede heels.

There are some roadtrip-worthy thrift stores just outside DC, and I'm especially fond of the Unique Bazaar locations in Falls Church, Wheaton and Silver Spring. The end of the weekend is probably the worst possible time to go thrifting, so if you have the option, try to hit these stores on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, when the weekend's donations are just arriving on the shelves.
